I COMPLETED MY 1ST 1/2 MARATHON!!!
I did it in 2 hrs and 4 mins. That is 5 mins slower than I wanted (under 2 hrs), but I will take it. After not running all week, I was happy with it. I will post more later or tomorrow. I got 12 celebration drinks to take care of.....now off to the bed for a nap!!!
Great job! I saw you right before the turn around. I yelled "Stan" but you didn't turn around (you had on the same outfit as in the profile pic, right?) I never saw Amy today.
I made it to 13.1 according to Garmin in about 2:10:21. However, my finish at 13.32 miles was more like 2:12. Did yours clock the course a little long? I wonder if it was the diversion?
I don't think we'll BOTH be doing a drunk report as she doesn't have internet access at her house (It's like she lives in the 18th century). I may do one when I get home (she lives like 2 blocks from me, so I'll be stumbling home). No guarentees though...
Congrats! Great job. 13.23 doesn't sound bad. My Garmin registered 13.24 in my half marathon. It's just from meandering around over the course of 13+ miles. Most half-marathons don't have a solid blue line to follow and even if they did, you'd probably go off course a bit to get water, pass people, etc.
I'm a 36 year old father of 2 kids. I started running in April 2008. I have trained twice for the Country Music Marathon in Nashville, TN. During that training, I have injured myself twice. Now I just want to run and lose some weight and get back in shape. I'm looking to run a few 1/2 marathons and then maybe, just maybe, try for that 26.2 miles.
